Mirrlees 5 cylinder blast injection

This film was created in association with the Ouse Washes Landscape Partnership and the Heritage Lottery Fund.

Installed at Prickwillow  in 1924, this is believed to be the only example of a blast-injection engine remaining in working order.
Year built: 1924
Nominal power output: 250 BHP at 250rpm
Injector type: air blast
Fly-wheel weight: 6.5 tonnes approx.
Engine weight: 25 tonnes approx.
Lubrication: individual oil metering pumps for each cylinder driven from crankshaft. Total loss oil system.
