W H Allen 3S60 4-stroke

This film was created in association with the Ouse Washes Landscape Partnership and the Heritage Lottery Fund.

This unique W H Allen 3S60 (special order contra-rotation) engine from Ten Mile Bank is a 3 cylinder, conventionally aspirated 4-stroke diesel engine and can be seen running on our event days.

Cubic capacity: 238 litres (14736 Cubic Inches)
Bore: 410mm, stroke 600mm
340 BHP at 250 rpm
Firing order: 1-3-2
Fuel injectors: CAV
Engine weight: approx 25 tonnes
Fly-wheel weight: approx 6 tonnes
Lubrication: flywheel driven lobe pump recirculating oil through twin filter to mains, big ends and camshaft. Push rod driven secondary pump into cylinder for little end lubrication.
